The Inner Time of Organisms.

Organisms are not just substances, because organisms have internal structures.

The substance moves when it is pushed. Here works the law of action and reaction, Newton's third law.

However, this does not completely apply to organisms. What has been input as information is accumulated through various internal interpretations, and is finally output as a completely different one. This movement creates the inner time of organisms.

*: Bergson's second major book, an attempt to resolve the conflict between materialism and idealism. The conflict between materialism and idealism can be seen as a mind-body problem (mind-brain problem) from a different point of view. In a word, the problem is whether it is spirit or a body, and mind or a brain as a material, that unify this world. Bergson tried to find the solution to this mind-body problem, using the concept of "image" as an intermediate existence between the material and the representation, and using researches on Aphasia as a clue.
