The beginning of food production

At about the same time as the domestication of animals, farming practices emerged independently in the fertile crescent zones of Southwestern Asia (wheat, peas, olives), China (sorghum, millet), New Guinea (bananas, sugar cane), Central America (corn, green beans), and other regions.

Presumably, plant seeds collected in the course of settlement life were discarded in a specific place where they subsequently sprouted, and they were then sorted and began to be cultivated.
