Two hypotheses on the origin of language

Noam Chomsky hypothesized that generative grammar, an innate system that enables language acquisition, is present in humans.

As to the origin of language, there is a theory that it began with words and grammar with multiple meanings (Derek Bickerton), and an overall vague message similar to music, which was then segmented to produce words and sentences (Alison Rey).*

*The origin of language is still a controversial topic, but in any case, Neanderthals, who did not have language, were not capable of symbolic thinking or the artificial interpretation of natural phenomena to make them easier to work with. It seems that this difference in ability caused the end of coexistence between Neanderthals and Sapiens. [Editorial note]
