Physicality and the Subjective World of Organisms

Organisms have bodies and recognizes the environment through them. This is an important finding.

All experience is gained through the body, so all experiences are physical. The organism puts down roots in this world by the body. It can be said that the subjectivity of organisms originates from the consciousness of the body.

Each organism belongs to the environment by its own body and in its own way, and it has a unique relationship with each object in the environment, in accordance with its body and an ecology.

Uexküll explored how organisms perceive the world surrounding it from the inside and named the unique world that organisms form "Umwelt (Environment World)".

*: This book demonstrates the plurality of organisms from individuals to species, the diverse adaptability of organisms to the environment, and overcame the monistic theory of biological evolution. This book is also a masterpiece which gave the epistemological basis to Biology through three concepts of "the environment", "the unit-world" and "Funktionskreise (Function Circle)", by overcoming the physicochemical reductionism which exists in the basis of the "life = machine" theory.
