Humans are apes

“Darwin's bulldog,” Thomas Huxley* stated that “whatever part of the animal fabric might be selected for comparison, the lower Apes (monkeys) and the gorilla would differ more than the gorilla and man. ” We now know that gorillas are taxonomically more distant from monkeys than from humans.

As Darwin predicted, our origin is in apes.

*Thomas Henry Huxley was an English biologist who supported the concept of evolution and defended Darwin’s arguments in the debate that arose following the publication of On the Origin of the Species. He summarized and published his discussions in Evidence as to Man’s Place in Nature, which included an illustration comparing the skeletons of apes and a human.
