The frequency of infanticide varies by region

There are large regional differences in the frequency of infanticide in the three regions. Although, during 50 years of observation, infanticide occurred frequently in Virunga, only approximately two cases were reported for 40 years of observation in Kahuzi and none for 10 years of observation in Mukalaba. Why does this difference between regions occur?

Comparing the features of gorilla society in these three regions, it has been found that there is a difference in relationships among males.
