Leaf eaters and fruit eaters: differences in activity rhythms

In mountain gorillas, which feed mainly on leaves, foraging behavior is mostly observed in the early morning and late afternoon, and they rest around noon for digestion. Contrary to this, gibbons and chimpanzees, both of which are fruit-eaters, do not have such an activity rhythm, and, as fruit has a high digestibility, foraging can be similarly observed during most of daytime.
