Are the peculiar sexual features of humans the heritage of our ancestral society?

These human sexual characteristics are very unique compared to those of great apes, and they are not always consistent with those often observed in other primates that have a monogamous mating system (which is dominant in human society). This deviation of humans may reflect the social features that our ancestors had in the past.
