Relationships between sexuality and sociality

How does the primate sexuality relate to their societies?

Primatologists have clarified that primate species that demonstrate sexual swelling tend to form multi-male groups. This could be because the ovulation signals of females attract many males to enter the groups. Moreover, the males’ mating ability is also related to their societies. Species in which males have a large relative testis size often form multi-male groups, and those with a small testis size tend to live in single-male groups.
