Life in the savannah and “Out of Africa”

Comparing the distributions of extant African primates between habitats, species diversity in the savannah is generally poorer than that of the rainforest, but savannah-dwelling species have wider distribution ranges. In African rainforests, primates have small distribution ranges, and more species coexist.

The human ancestors also gradually expanded their distribution range, and eventually left Africa.
