Differences in ranging patterns between gorillas and chimpanzees

Ranging patterns were also different between the species. Following the day ranges of the focal groups for eight years revealed that the area ranged by the gorilla group was nearly three times wider than that ranged by the chimpanzee group. While the home range of the chimpanzee group was largely limited to primary forests, the gorilla group used more diverse types of vegetation.
