The sympathetic ability of monkeys

A Japanese macaque mother will rush to help her infant or juvenile child if it screams. However, if her child is hurt, she does not try to comfort it. The mothers of Tibetan monkeys will not try to stop their infants if they approach a snake. A yellow baboon’s mother will not return to her infant who is standing on the river bank, unable to cross.

It seems that, if they are not personally involved, monkeys do not have the urge to prevent a tragedy that is about to happen to another.
