Human Behavioral Evolution 2: Increase in Animal Source Foods

The second behavioral evolution is the increase of animal source foods in the diet.*

It is thought that this occurred prior to the encephalization. The first stone tools were excavated in Ethiopia, and dated from approximately 2,500,000 years ago—prior to the beginning of the encephalization. It is believed that at this time, humans used knife-like stone tools, not for hunting, but for cutting and eating the meat of dead animals.
